Easiest way to cut paper-thin slivers of onion (video)

I’m a raw red-onion lover – but only when the red onion is paper thin. Tissue paper thin. See the cell membranes thin.

I’ll show you the best way to cut an onion so that you get thin slices with a beautiful tapered wedge-shape just like this.

It’s a quickie. I mean a Qwiki – I’m playing with their video creation tool – super simple way to create video content for your blog. They’re a brand new company.

Thanks for the video…very helpful tip!
one note: the video sound came on unbearably loud (had to yank out my earphone!) and there doesn’t seem to be a volume level control…just volume on or mute. Maybe there is a way to change that?

Agreed, your knife needs to be super-sharp to get the onion sliced as thinly as possible! Thanks for sharing this video.

Thanks for the information for slicing paper-think slivers of onion. Seems like these would be perfect for a nice summer salad.

Never tried it with the onion “upside down” like that. I will give it a shot. Hope you and Scott are breaking the house in Vegas!

I agree on all counts, helpful video but unbearably loud with no volume control.

Volume control icon on the bottom right side of your computer screen( next to the date & tme) will adjust this for you.

I actually had issues with the volume. There was no sound at all for me. I played it several times adjusting the volume. Great video even without sound!
