You should use Word (or NeoOffice, it’s free although they request donations to continue their open source development) which allows your publisher a myriad of compositional tools and options. But I digress… How old is your version? If you are having problems (or dashed expectations) perhaps an upgrade is in order. Even if you don’t have the latest version, InDesign has data recovery built-in. They call it “Document Recovery Data” and the location of any recovered data can be determined in the programs preferences under “File Handling”. What’s with the potty mouth? “!#*!)#@ program that doesn’t have a robust “Undo” feature…”. If you are unable to “Undo” you may have the wrong language chosen for your keyboard which changes the key combo mapping from what you EXPECT will “undo”. Check your keyboard language. InDesign undo is unlimited and automatic. You don’t turn it off or on. Take 10 minutes to go through the Preferences settings. Do this with no documents open. Once you have set the preferences to you liking, and there are many personalized tweaks you can make, close the preferences and quit the program. Now, every time you launch the program, your preferences will be the same as the last time. What can I say… I’m a graphics nabob. Have fun!
